Turning a compact, dated bathroom into a sleek, contemporary wet room.

The client didn't use their bath, and with limited space for layout opportunities, we created a wet room instead within the footprint of the old bath. A folding glass shower panel allowed access to the far corner where an upcycled storage unit could be installed and a slimline sink also maximised floor space too.

The concealed cistern created a seamless and tidy first impressions with the added benefit of storage/display on top. The heated towel rail was moved from the entrance wall to behind the door in order to open up the entrance area.

A deep window sill was useful for storage but tended to look cluttered so a sliding frosted glass panel system was designed to allow light in whilst masking clutter.

Finally a 'zen' design scheme of concrete, white & chrome with a mosaic border and a touch of greenery from some faux grasses created a calm & contemporary space.

hackney makeover

A living room in need of a new lease of life whilst retaining memories.

The client had recently experienced a very difficult trauma and, whilst desperate to make some changes to the decor, was unable to visualise how that might be done on a budget.

Colour consultations, budgets, layout and drawings were done in advance of the client going away to enable the makeover to take place whilst the client was on holiday, thus minimising further upset and distress. By using a calmer more tranquil colour palette with pops of accent colours the room gained both focus and serenity.

Storage was key, as the old layout was lacking, and focal points for the room were created such a a faux fireplace and a bespoke coffee table. New shelves were installed either side of the fireplace together with an up cycled media unit to house more storage. The coffee table was made from salvaged fencing planks mounted onto castors with a lid so that it, not only, became a focal point of the seating area but useful additional storage.

Picture shelves at the dining end meant that the client could curate her own pieces as and when she pleased with key pieces of art hung strategically to pull the whole scheme together.

acton ensuite

A loft room with awkward eaves storage that wasn't easy to access.

The client had enough wardrobe & eaves space therefore wanted to utilise some of the space for a much needed guest ensuite in the loft room. We took took two doors off the full wall storage wardrobe, installed a stud wall against which we put the toilet & heated towel rail and created an entrance into the new ensuite.

Due to the limited full head height we built a platform over the stairs, leading up to the loft, which allowed a walk-in cubicle to be installed in this boxed area, with an extraction system through the roof void. An inset shelf was created in the shower to house plenty of products as well as making it easy to clean as it was tiled.

Using large scale gloss tiles made the space feel bigger and the new layout brought focus on the window looking out, rather than the sloping, difficult space.  Neat, slimline white furniture completed the contemporary finish.

retirement apartment

Moving from a house to an apartment needn't feel like a downgrade.

Knocking through from the living room into the 'spare room' we were able to install pocket doors leading into a new dining room, allowing light to flood in from the 2nd window and giving a greater sense of space to both reception areas. The dining room can be still be closed off for the occasional guest stay with plenty of room for a double bed.

The scheme was traditional, reflecting  the age of the client, but with modern touches that made it feel up-to-date and stylish. Faux wood panelling was used for a rich, modern grey paint finish that complimented the heritage check wallpaper. A neater, false chimney breast with a woodturner & country style accessories gave it a cosy feel.

The whole apartment was gutted (except for the kitchen) with a new bathroom, ceiling, spotlights, decoration and flooring being installed to the highest quality. The client's furniture and belongings were central to the design in order for it to feel like home.

east sheen living room

Tidying up the storage and harmonising the furnishings were key to reflecting the owner's taste and maintaining the charm of this art deco apartment.

The decor, whilst in keeping with the heritage of the building, was not adding to the tranquility of the space and we wanted to pull in the beautiful tree top views from outside too. Mid century was the style umbrella used to inspire the new scheme through colour, finishes & fabric.

Bespoke shelving, with exposed wood trim, provided better, clutter-free storage and more display space with lighting . The design style was reflected both sides of the original marble fireplace, but with a customised arrangement to house the client's items perfectly.

Vintage wallpaper, heritage colours on the walls, a customised dining table, new floor stain,  a re-upholstered chair and a new sofa brought the whole scheme together. At the same time retaining the charm of original fixtures and fittings and reflecting the client's eclectic taste and travel influences.

chiswick bathroom

Nicknamed 'The Relentless Spa' by these clients, they were desperate for a clean, functioning bathroom that made best use of the space - having lived with an inherited horror bathroom when they bought it.

Planning space & stealing cms from knocking out redundant areas meant that a huge walk-in rain shower could be installed as well as a bath, vanity unit basin and toilet.

Wanting to have a design nod to the heritage of this Victorian property, but without it look old fashioned, we combined contemporary styling with Vitorian detailing in the large scale mirror, taps & brick laid tiling.

A bespoke anti-steam mirror, under floor heating and clever design tricks with layout & light resulted in a bathroom that feels larger than it is and serves the entire family well.

uxbridge update

A family home of some 50 years was in need of updating for the rental market.

The budget was very tight in order to transform a bathrooms, create an ensuite shower room, install a new kitchen and completely redecorate the whole house with new flooring in most rooms.

By clever use of light, layout and design tricks the house was brought up-to-date for the modern family all within budget and on time.
